“The Little Match Girl”, a fairy tale, is written by Han Christian Andersen and published in 1848. The story is about how we should try to be more charitable and help the ones in need, poverty, hunger, and helplessness. I sympathized with this poor child because I saw poor children living miserably when I worked as a volunteer for helping children in Viet Nam. I felt it was unfair that some children have to wander along the street to beg for food and money while other children of this world have comfortable lives. They should be studying at school instead of working just to eat one full meal. Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”- Mark Twain. An act of kindness never goes futile. That sentence makes us think about how we are living. Everyone takes the initiative to act and care about the poor children. In conclusion, this story not only portrays the lives of poor children but also gives a message to the world that we need to be more kind and caring of poverty-stricken children in the world because they are our future.
